I have been thinking for the last couple of weeks about doing a series of stories based on the first eleven chapters of Genesis. It has been impressed on me that most people that leave the church do so because they lose confidence in the scripture.
That erosion of confidence begins with attempts to blend the Genesis accounts with science. Invariably, attempts to blend the two put the scripture in the backseat and it is bent to conform with science. The problem with that is that the only way you can do that is to stop believing in that portion of scripture as the literal, inspired Word of God and relegate it to the level of myths and fairy stories.
While I am neither a scientist nor a creation apologist, I do believe that God’s word is to be taken literally as His inspired communication to us and not as a myth or a fairy story.
I am working out now how to do this from a child’s point of view. I have an interesting idea about how to that. I will report more on this later.
