Putting a positive spin on…unemployment.

Well, I have been officially unemployed for one week today. That’s the bad news. The good news is that I was offered a new job and accepted it yesterday. I start the new one on the 17th of June. That means that I will not get a paycheck until July.

Being without a paycheck for nearly a month brings up all sorts of conversations about what is and is not an important expense. Where do the few dollars go that unemployment brings in?

Another discussion is can we afford to let the medical insurance coverage from Cobra lapse for one month?

On the bright side, I get to sleep till I wake up each morning. And, now that I am not spending every day engaged in a job hunt, I can spend the time I like with my wife on household duties and writing.

I am writing a story about a young girl who goes out one night to investigate bright, dancing lights in the forest around her home. She is captured by some elves who are actually rescuing her from the Faeries that were themselves intent on luring her into a trap of their own. I am hoping that there will be some adventure, intrigue and just a touch of romance.

We’ll see how it all turns out. After all, I have a two week vacation to do some writing. I promise to blog more regularly during this time.
